Re: I have a question
Hi! Thank you for posting a bulletin. We are glad to hear that you are advocating for yourself about not being a runaway and completing research to your legal rights. It is also good that you were able to get a lawyer. Unfortunately, each state may vary about having to do time in jail. Running away is typically not illegal in most states and jail time may depend on if there are anyother charges that were to come up. Although we are not able to answer that for you, your lawyer would mostly likely be able to provide more of an insight.
We are a 24/7 confidential crisis hotline that can provide referrals, resources and conference calling if you would like to make the call togather. Best wishes to you!

I have a question
Ok, so I am 18 however I had left my house prior to coming of age. I have retained an attorney and am going back to my town to give my report to the officer my runaway warrant/ complaint was filed with and going in front of the judge to tell him that I was throw out and did not run away. I need to know if there is any chance of me having to face jail time over this ordeal? I know legally you can be held without reason for 24 hours. I am fairly familiar with the legal system, but don't know on this one. Also will my complaint/ warrant be expired and off of my juvenile record or do I have to have it taken off?Tags: None
