Re: 18 year old with legal questions

Thanks for contacting us here at NRS. It is unfortunate to hear that you have had no contact with your mother, but it is still important the same that you at least have had contact with someone in your family, and in this case your older sister. It seems as if you are really concerned about a situation and are trying to get an answer for a very specific question about "runaway warrants". First of all, let us inform you that you became of legal age on your eighteenth birthday. In that respect, you are not considered a runaway any longer. As far as we know, a runaway warrant is treated as simarly to an actual runaway report. This means that it is true that it should become void or expire once the youth has turned eighteen. At this point, it is our understanding that no lawyer is necessary to have you freed of such charges. To reassure you or to double check, it is possible that you may annonymously contact the local police department in the place the actual warrant was issued to aks what exactly may happen in that certain instance. You may be feeling a little uneasy about doing ths and if so, that is where we may be of more help to you. We can help be an annonymous advocate for you while you are on the line and call the agencies to retrieve the information. We are not exactly sure of the exact issues or events that took place during the time that you left home but it may be reasonable to think about and note those as well to be sure it is not something that may indeed stick with you on your record. If you want to take us upon our offer and call us here, we can be reached 24 hours a day at 1-800-RUNAWAY or you may also post another reply message to the bulletin page. We would be more than happy to assist you in doing all that we can for you. Good luck with everything, until we hear from you next!

18 year old with legal questions

Let me start by saying i am 18 1/2. i left my mom's house exactly one year ago. I have had no contact with her, but i have talked to my older sister. I know i have been told i can still get picked up over my "runaway warrant". Is that true? Also if it is true what steps do i need to take to get it dealt with. Also what kind of lawyer do i need?
