  • Finishing up high school after running away

Hello, I'm writing this on behalf of one of my friends. He lives in a horrifically abusive household and he has plans to immediately leave once he hits 18 and move from Florida to Washington but he'll he halfway through his senior year when he does. He's home schooled online and his parents will likely cancel it once they find out he left or something like that and I was wondering how signing up for high school would work when you're emancipated and have zero contact with your parents if anyone knew. If attending a regular high school or finishing up his education online in the new state isn't possible without his parents then he'll likely just get a GED. I just want to make sure.

    Hey,

Thanks for your question. Unfortunately we don't have access to that information. It might be helpful to reach out the schools directly to see what their enrollment requirements are. The school administration district may have helpful information as well.

    Hopefully that information helps.
