  • Emancipated in Ga

I'm 16 (17July2015) & my bf just turned 18. Here at home is hell. My sibs pick on me all the time, & my parents don't care. Me & my family don't get along. The stress here has really gotten to my effort in school over the past few years. My bf's parents told me that I can stay with them so I can focus on my school work & hopefully get a job. Can they help me get emancipated by telling the judge our plan in Calhoun, Ga.

    RE: Emancipated in Ga

    Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to us. Sorry to hear about how things are at home. Your boyfriend’s family can help you figure out the process of emancipation. We aren’t legal experts but we can speak generally. Typically the courts will want some kind of way to see you can provide for yourself, reasons to get emancipated and the plan you have. The requirements vary from state to state, it may be best to consider calling to ask what the specific process is. You can always contact us at 1-800-RUNAWAY. We look forward to hearing from you. Good luck.
