    Hey there,

Thank you for reaching out to us here at the National Runaway Safeline, it seems like you have quite a bit going on at this point in your life, just know that you are not alone and we are here to help you in the best way we can. You have been missing for quite a bit of time, this must be a big transition for you. Keep in mind that we are here for you, always.

To start off, we would like you to know that we are not legal experts here but we will try our best to answer your questions. Every state, city and or police department handles these situations in different ways. From our understanding, once you are 18, you are considered an adult. Another factor you might want to consider is that running away as a minor is not illegal, it is a status offense, which basically means you can’t do it because you are a minor. From our understanding, law enforcement cannot do anything, but like we mentioned, we are not legal experts.

The best way to find out the answers to these questions would be to reach out to either your local police department or to a legal aid. They would be able to provide you with more legal answers than we can. If this is something you are interested in, please feel free to give us a call or reach out to us through our chat sessions that are available every day from 4 to midnight. Our number is 1-800-RUNAWAY and we are available 24/7. Please feel free to reach out to us, we would be more than happy to help you.

    Stay strong,

    NRS
Please remember you can reach us directly by calling our 24 hour hotline, 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) or through our Live Chat.
