RE: 14 to 18
Hello,
We are glad that you decided to reach out to us. We aren’t legal experts but we can talk generally on the topic. Running away is considered a status offense which means if you are picked up by the police they can return you back to your parents. Once you turn 18 you are no longer a minor and they wouldn’t be able to file a runaway report and they wouldn’t be able to bring you back, if it was previously filed. There is a lot to think about when deciding to run away. You can call us toll free at 1-800-RUNAWAY. We are confidential, anonymous and 24/7. We look forward to hearing from you. Good luck
NRSPlease remember you can reach us directly by calling our 24 hour hotline, 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) or through our Live Chat.
