I am 14 a runaway and need help

I just feel like I don't belong and want to know if there any laws that make my mom able to get the cops to bring me home if I am spotted, and if I have the right to ask her to let me be given to a relative who I think would be a better fit cause I feel like i am not in the right spot and feel like I don't belong with her and I just don't know if I am able to do it by law

Thanks for reaching out to us. It sounds like you're going through a rough time and seeking support and looking for answers. We'll try and help out as best as we can.

You seem to be asking about the age of majority. The age of majority in most states is 18. That means that if someone leaves before that age, the guardians are able to make a runaway report with the police. If that report is made the police have the authority to pick youth up if found and return them home. That's probably not what you wanted to hear but that's the most we know about runaway under the age of 18.

And if you were trying to live somewhere else you are most certainly able to talk to your mom about that. What do you think will happen if you try and have a calm, reasonable conversation about you living with a relative? How will she respond?
