Re: 14 yr old runaway from TX

Hello, Thank you for reaching out to the National Runaway Safeline. It sounds like you were dealing with a very difficult situation at home with your mom. You say that you ran away from your mom's house, are you in a safe place right now? If not, we can try to help you find a safe place or you can to go the website www.nationalsafeplace.org. You mentioned that you are worried about returning home because of what your mom may do. If you feel you are unsafe or in danger of being hurt or abused in any way you do have the right to report that abuse or tell someone what is going on. That is something we can also help you with if you would like.

If you went to live with your dad and if he does not have legal custody of you, there is a chance that he could get into trouble or that you would be returned to your mom if she is the one who has legal custody of you. We are not legal experts here though so we cannot say for sure what would happen. All of this is probably dependent on the custody agreement between your mom and dad. If you could find a way to call us on our 24/7 hotline at 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) we might be able to help you talk about the options you have. We also have an online chat service every night from 4:30-11:30 PM CST that you can chat with us about your situation and we can try to provide you with options and resources that can assist you. We hope that this information helps and that we can help you further if you reach out to us. There is always someone available to help. Be safe.
Please remember you can reach us directly by calling our 24 hour hotline, 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) or through our Live Chat.
