I'm 16 Years Old And I've Run Away. This Is The 3rd Time So Now I'm On The Encouarageability (?) List. I Ran Away To Be With My Birth Mother And Because I Didnt Feel Safe I'm The Home I Was In. Its Been A Little Over A Year Now And I'll Be 17 Soon But Im Not Staying With My Mother Either Because I Don't Want Her To Get In Trouble And Go To Prison For Harboring A Runaway. But I Am Very Safe Where I Am. I Thought I Might Wait It Out Until I Turned 18 And Then Go To My Mothers But I Ended Up Getting Pregnant! I Lied About My Age To A 22 Year Old Young Man I Liked And We Ended Up Having Sex And I Got Pregnant! I Felt Bad When I Found Out So I Kept It To MySelf! I Didn't Want Him In Trouble Because Of Our Age Difference So I Didn't Say Anything To Anybody I Didn't Even Go To The Doctors But I Took My Prenatal Vitamins That I Had Someone Buy For Me I Didn't Show Until I Was 8 Months And Then He Asked And I Told Him And I Opened Up To Him About My Age And He Was Hurt I Lied To Him But He Said He Isn't Leaving Me Or His Child Behind And He Has A Job And Car And House (I Don't Live With Him Either Though) But He Has Been There For Me From The Beginning He Never Left Me And Not Even After He Found Out About The Baby Or My Age. But My Child Is Due Anytime This Month And I Am Terrified That The Police Will Find Me Because Hospitals Have Red Flagged My Name And They Will Take My Baby From Me And Take Me Back To The Place I Came From. I BEG For Help I'm On The Missing And Exploited Children Site And The Lady Where I Stayed Before Said I'd Go To A Girls Home If I RanAway Again But Can She Do That ? Will The Police Find Me And Take Me Back? Will They Take My Baby From Me? I Really Need Answers! Please And Thank You!

Thank you for reaching out to us and telling us about what is going on. It sounds like you are in a very difficult situation right now and it was very brave of you to contact us for assistance. Hopefully, we can help you out but we aren’t legally trained here so we can’t say for sure what would happen or what your rights are.
It sounds like you have left home again and that you may be placed on the Incorrigible list. You said that you initially had left home to go stay with your birth mom because you weren’t feeling safe at home but you aren’t staying there because you don’t want her to get into trouble for harboring a runaway. It also sounds like your plan was to stay where you are until you turn 18 and then return to your birth mom but you are pregnant and have some concerns about having the baby. It also sounds like you recently told the baby’s dad that you were pregnant and it seems like he is pretty supportive of you. It’s great that you have someone like that in your life.
You expressed some concerns about the police locating you because the hospitals have red flagged you. Can you tell us more about how you found that out? You also had many questions about what would happen if the police located you and unfortunately, we can’t tell you exactly what would happen. One thing that we can do is provide you with some legal aid resources that can give you concrete answers. You may also be able to call the police and talk with them. We understand that may be very scary so, if you would like to do this, we can help you make those calls. That way, the police wouldn’t be able to track the call and you can get the answers you are looking for.
You can reach us 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) if you would like to explore what resources are close to you. We also have online chat services from 4:30 PM-11:30 PM (CST), 7 days a week if you would rather talk with us that way and those can be found on our website (www.1800runaway.org).
We look forward to hearing from you and wish you the best of luck!
~NRSPlease remember you can reach us directly by calling our 24 hour hotline, 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) or through our Live Chat.

RE: 16 & Pregnant & a Runaway
Hello,
Thanks for getting back to us. We aren't legal experts, so we aren't sure what can happen if you are located by the police. Please call us if you want us to call your local police and ask them about their procedures, or if you have any more questions or just need to talk. We are here to listen and support you however we can, and it sounds like you are in a really scary situation, and we are happy to help however we can. Although it is impossible to say exactly what will happen, we might be able to help you figure out what your best options are. We are looking forward to your call and wish you the best of luck.
