    RE: 15 international runaway

    Hello,

Thanks for reaching out to us for help. You raised some interesting questions. We are not legal experts, and because our services are based in the United States, we are not familiar with policies on international runaways or runaway laws and procedures in Canada. Since you are 15, you might not meet the minimum age requirement for traveling on a plane without parental permission and unaccompanied minor procedures through the airline. It is also possible that anyone suspecting that you are a runaway will report you at the airport, or that you will be stopped at the airport once they run your passport. Although we cannot say for sure, running away across borders comes with many major risks and international travel is highly regulated, making it very difficult for minors to get very far.

Before you go, there are many things that you might want to consider. Here is a list to start:

    • What else can I do to improve my home situation before I leave?
    • What would make me stay at home?
    • How will I survive?
    • Is running away safe?
    • Who can I count on to help me?
    • Am I being realistic?
    • Have I given this enough thought?
    • What are my other options?
    • If I end up in trouble, who will I call?
    • When I return home, what will happen

It might be easier for us to help you if we knew more about your situation and why you feel like you need to run away to a different country, and what you hope to accomplish by doing so. We understand that you must be in a very difficult situation at home to consider this. You might have other options, or we can work with you to come up with a plan that is safer and more realistic. Please feel free to give us a call at 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) 24/7 or chat with us online at www.1800RUNAWAY.org any day between 4:30pm and 11:30pm Central Standard Time. We are here to listen and support you in any way that we can. We look forward to your call and wish you the best of luck.

    15 international runaway

Im really curious as to the status of international runaways. Say for instance that my parents declare me a missing person, how long will it take for my passport (Canadian) to be stopped at a foreign airport? At 15, i'm able to buy a plane ticket, but want to know how long it will be before im stopped iternationally for being a missing person and if i, as a canadian, can be sent back to a country outside of canada in which my parents currently reside. Some other questions:

-How long before im considered an internationally missing person?
-Can a government send me back to a country for which i dont hold a passport or identification from?
-What obstacles are there to international runaways at 15?
