  • running away asap what will happen??

im in oregon and running away very soon like in two days! On thursady me and my mom got in a huge fight almost literally over nothing! my stepdad a calling me a liar and cussing me out in fron of her and she was taking his side. we dont get a long at all and have a horrible past. she used oto od ob pills and try to commit suiceide infront of me and cut herself. that was 4 yrs ago i think. than she left for las vegas for two yrs. but thursaday when she got mad she literally attacked me. she ran after me when i was going up the stairs cussing me out and called me a spoiled ********** like she always does and pushing and shoving me up the stairs so im on thr ground trying to get up. she is grabbing and scratching me all over. when i reaach the top of the stairs she pushes me into my room and calls me names and grabs my face with her nails and whips it around every where. my "dad" picked me up that night and i have been staying with him but he isnt my legal dad so i have to go back to her house tuesday. i cant go back to her and my stepdad it scares me so much. is what shes doing abuse?? will i be brought home by the cops?? i really cant go back to her house and i have no idea what to do because im 16 and i cant move out and they wont emancipate me!

A reply from the National Runaway Switchboard.

Thank you for contacting NRS. It sounds like you are having a rough time at home. We can imagine its scary at times for you. If you runaway and the cops find you, they will usually bring you back home unless there is abuse at home and unsafe for you to be there. For what you are describing, it sounds like it might be abuse. Nobody, including you, should have to go through what you are going through. How often does this happen? If you have any kind of physical marks on you, that can be evidence for abuse. Have you ever considered filing an abuse report? If you give us a call at 1800-RUNAWAY we can assist you in filing an abuse report and also we can help you find a shelter if you need a place to stay. However sometimes shelters do require parental consent.
Please remember you can reach us directly by calling our 24 hour hotline, 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) or through our Live Chat.
