  • what are the consequences for when i return?

things at home are getting pretty rough and id like to get away for a bit, i have plenty of money, a car, and a fake I.D to get a hotel. my plan was to get a hotel in a city an hour or 2 away from home and stay there for a week, my mother and i have not gotten along for maybe 7 years now and what i want is just a little vacation from everything. i would stay with a friend but i wouldnt be aloud to nor do i want to because im isolating myself from others because they are all getting into drugs and im trying to stay on the good side of things. so one night i just planned on leaving unnoticed and returning in a week or so when ive regrouped.
with that being said i would like to know the consequences in the state of california for doing this and if and when im caught with a fake i.D what are the legal consequences for having one and the people who got me the the fake i.d. (one of them is still a minor if that changes anything)
any information on this would be great thanks!

    Hi

Thanks for contacting the National Runaway Safeline. It sounds like you are overwhelmed and would like to get away to clear your mind. You mentioned that you have the transportation and funds needed for a hotel outside of the city. Do you have plans on telling anyone your plans for safety reasons? It sounds like you want to know if there are any consequences for running away. Generally speaking it is not illegal to runaway. If you leave home and you are a minor, your legal guardians do have the right to report you as a runaway. Youth are not usually punished by the legal system for running away unless there are some other things going on as well. As far as the legality of having a fake I.D., we wouldn’t be to give you much information on that. It is probably some type of crime to make and/or use fake I.D.s. To get more information about the legal consequences on fake I.D.s , you may contact a legal aid society or browse the web.

We hope the information helps. If we can be of further assistance, please feel free to give us a call at 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929). Our hotline is toll-free, anonymous, and confidential.

    Best Wishes
