  • 14 in Florida need help

Hi, I have recently been thinking about running away with my best friend. I have been getting in more fights with my mom and I'm just about done. My sister had the same problem with her. I'm not being abused I'm just tired of being called a idiot. My friend has been having these same problems with her family as well. I just wanted to see if there was any useful information you could tell me. If so that would be great. I already know we're I'm going and how I will get the things I need. Thank you so much.

RE: 14 in Florida need help

    Hi there,

Thanks for contacting the National Runaway Safeline. Wow, it seems like you’re going through so much right now. There seem to be a lot of unknowns in your future, which can feel really overwhelming. You know, we all feel overwhelmed at some point, but we don’t all reach out for some help. It’s really smart of you to reach out for some support in this tough time!

We’re sorry that your mom treats you that way. You absolutely don’t deserve to be called an idiot. You said that your sister has gone through the same stuff as you. Have you tried talking to her about how she handled it? Sometimes when we’re feeling frustrated it can be helpful to talk to someone about it.

In terms of your question, it seems like you’ve developed a really solid plan. You know where you are going and the things that you will need. You seem prepared. So we assume that the things you have prepared are shelter, food and how to survive. We’d love to talk through some of some other things with you and discuss some options that you might have. You can call us 24/7 at 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929). We are completely confidential and anonymous. If calling isn’t your thing, you can chat with us on our website (www.1800runaway.org) from 4.30pm-11.30pm Central Standard Time. We look forward to hearing from you!

We wish you the best of luck,

    NRS
Please remember you can reach us directly by calling our 24 hour hotline, 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) or through our Live Chat.
