RE: moving out of my moms and into my relatives
Hi there,
Thanks for contacting the National Runaway Safeline. It seems like you’re going through so much right now. Sometimes it can be hard when we get in fights with our parents. Guilt can be an overwhelming feeling for sure. You know, when we feel overwhelmed it’s a great idea to reach out for some support. It was really smart of you to write to us to get some advice!
So, have you tried talking to your mom about how you feel? It can be hard to carry all your feelings by yourself and sometimes sharing those feels help to make you feel better. You seem to be a really kind and thoughtful person, who cares about others!
In terms of your question, you are able to go and live with your relatives. The only thing is, that you will most likely need your mom’s permission to do that. Unfortunately, since you are a minor, you don’t get to choose on your own where you want to live. Can you think of a way to ask your mom to go live with a relative? So, we might be able to help with that. One thing that we do here is a conference call service. If you call us, we would be able to call your mom and have a discussion about how you’re feeling and about what you need.
If that sounds like a good plan, you can call us at 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) at anytime. We are open 24/7 and are completely confidential and anonymous. We can also talk through some options with you too. If calling isn’t your thing you can chat with us through our website (www.1800runaway.org) from 4.30pm-11.30pm Central Standard Time. We look forward to hearing from you!
Best of luck to you,
NRSPlease remember you can reach us directly by calling our 24 hour hotline, 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) or through our Live Chat.
