Re: Abuse help
Hello,
Thanks for reaching out to us. Sounds like you’re trying to figure stuff out throughout this difficult time. We’ll try and help out as best as we can.
First off, we should mention that we’re not legal advisors. The laws are complicated and layered when it comes to child welfare and they vary from state to state. But this is what we hear you’re asking:
-What is the degree of abuse that needs to occur in order to be sent somewhere else to live?
-If taken away from an abusive guardian, will I be sent to live with another guardian? Or where will I live?
These are interesting questions but we doubt that anyone (not even a lawyer) can right out answer that for you. If there is abuse going on, the only people that handle that are Children’s Protective Services. They will take the abuse report, have an investigation and then decide the next step. We’re not sure what it takes to actually get taken out of the house or where they’ll send you. It’s a case by case situation where little details matter.
It might be helpful to talk about this in depth. Are you willing and able to explore this a bit more and find out what options are available to you? If so, please call our hotline at 1800-RUNAWAY (786-2929). We’re anonymous, confidential and available 24/hours. We’re here for you if you need to talk.
Best,
