im 20 my girl is 16 and shes pregnant but her guairdians are trying to put her in a foster home i wanted to know if there was anything we can do like get married or somthing

Thanks for reaching out to us on our bulletin boards. Sounds like your girl{friend} is going through a lot of stuff right now: a pregnancy and parents that are trying to make her live somewhere else.

It's good to hear that she has you to rely on for support. What's going on at home with her parents? Is there anyone (other than you) that she can go tofor support?

We're not too sure as to what are her rights. If she is 16 she is still a minor and has legal gaurdians until the age of 18. That means that in order to enter into contracts (marriage license, rental lease) she might have to get permission from her parents. It is, however, different in every state. It might be helpful for her to speak to a legal advocate about her rights and options. Here is a national number where legal advocates for children can talk to her about what's available to her and what she can do. It might be helpful if she called there herself. She doesn't have to give her name.
