    Hello,
Thank you for posting on the National Runaway Switchboards BBs. It sounds like you are going through a stressful time right now and we are sorry that this is going on, but glad you decided to contact us.
It seems like you and your family are having some trouble communicating, have you done anything to try and change this? Counseling, sitting down and talking about how you are feeling just one on one, writing notes, etc...
I know you said that you tried to tell her you can't take her screaming anymore. It sounds like it was in the middle of an already tense situation though. Have you thought of bringing this up during a time when neither of you are in an already upset mood of feeling?. Sometimes parents have a difficult time understanding how you are feeling and you may have a hard time understanding them too, but that doesn't mean they don't care and it cannot work. If you would like to talk about any options regarding the communication in your home we are here.
As far as your boyfriends parents getting in trouble that would all depend on your area. We are not legal experts so we would not be able to tell too much besides that running away is considered a status offense so in most places it's not technically illegal but that doesn't mean you cannot get into trouble for it. They may bring you back home but they also may have more strict consequences like a short time in detention. The only way to know for sure is to call your local police and ask. This also goes for harboring a runaway. It is most likely only considered a misdimeanor but the circumstances and consequences will all depend on where they live. We cannot say if they need proof, if they will knock on the door and walk away, or if they will get a warrant to go in. It really is different everywhere so again we would suggest calling your local police and anonymously asking all the questions you have regarding consequences.
It sounds like you are pretty exhausted and sometimes it can help alot to talk about things. We are here to do that with you as well as help you with whatever else you need. If you decide to go we can still talk with you about what is happening, staying safe, having a plan or plan B, food, shelter, etc. We will not try and talk you out of your decisions but only want to make sure that it is really what you want and that you are safe. If you have any other concerns or questions, or just want to talk please call us here at 1-800-RUNAWAY. We are 24/7, anonymous and confidential and also free from any pay phone. We are here for you.
Hope to hear from you soon. Take care and stay safe,
    NRS
Please remember you can reach us directly by calling our 24 hour hotline, 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) or through our Live Chat.

        RE: 15 & I Neeed Helppp !!!

        Hi:

Thanks for getting back in touch with the National Runaway Switchboard. Generally speaking, running away is not illegal but parents are permitted to file runaway reports for youth under the age of 18. Runaway reports are entered into a national database regulated by law enforcement. Harboring a runaway is a charge that can be filed against individual(s) who provide assistance or aid to runaways. If a runaway report was filed, “harboring a runaway” is a possible charge that could result if assistance or aiding was provided.

Pregnancy does not usually result in automatic emancipation for minors. The requirements for emancipation varies by law but it is usually reserved for minors who are at least 16 years of age, financially independent of their parents, married, or who are entering the military. Since the law and penalties vary by state as well, it’s hard to predict the worst outcome for you running away. It may be best for you to contact a legal aid society or the nonemergency hotline for your local police department to try and get some of these questions answered since we don’t have a legal background.

We hope the information provided is useful. Remember if you are in ever need of a safe place, you can contact us toll-free at 1-800-RUNAWAY and we can assist you with calling shelters. We also have a list of other services that we offer to youth so you can always give us a call to discuss those services. Our hotline is confidential, anonymous, and available 24/7. We wish you the best of luck with things and hope that you remain safe.

Thanks again for getting in touch with us and we look forward to hearing from you.

            15 & I Need Helppp!!!

            Hello,

Thank you for responding to one of our previous post. We always appreciate every feedback given as we seek to empower all that is looking for support and resources. However, it is our policy to not be directive and we are also of a secular nature when it comes to offering options. We do not give advice. We are here to offer emotional support and alternatives to the poster. We thank you for your response. We simply have to work through certain guidelines to remain from sounding like we are telling people what they ought to do to avoid from being directive. We hope that we can help in some way in the future. Good luck.
