Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to NRS. We can’t tell you whether running away is a good idea. You’re the person who knows best about your own life. What we can do is help you figure out the best and safest plan and provide you with resources to help you and keep you safe if you want. Since you are 22, your mom cannot legally stop you from running away or have the police return you to her custody. If you have a caseworker for your SSI, it might be worth getting in touch with them and asking them about your job—what will interfere with your SSI and what won’t. Our ability to respond over the forums is limited, so if you would like to contact us further, please call us at 1-800-RUNAWAY or live chat with us at our website, 1800runaway.org.
We hope you stay safe and that we hear from you soon,
NRS Staff
