  • I want to leave, I so depressed

Everything started days ago, when I talked back to my dad. I was trying my prom dress and it was not fitting quite well so I was stressing already for that, and my mom and me were like fixing it when my says that is not gonna look good if I'm hunched all the time, and we are a Cuban family so we always play and say things to each other, so I saw that as a game in a way and in another way I was mad already with the dress so I told him that I don't care about his opinion. He got so mad that almost hit me putting his arm so close to my face, that was really scary. He took my phone away, and the next day I made an allegation to my mom that this was an abusive home obviously I was not being for real, she got so pissed by that that she call the cops ands they talked to me and everything they just told me to not being saying that. The same day me and my dad talk about it and we said what we didn't like I got over with it but him you could see that he was still mad. Now today, he is saying that next week I'm going to Cuba when I was supposed to go in June 17th to see mom. I haven't talk to my mom in these days without a phone, but every time that I do something we never said anything to my mom and he wants to do this now. I don't want to be here, I don't want to go to Cuba right now I want to finish like a normal kid the school year is this really selfish, I know I did wrong and I know I did this other times but I behave good and have good grades and just because I said that he wants to do this. Please tell me a solution I want to leave, I want to die PLEASE HELP.

    Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to NRS. That sounds like a tough situation, and just because you made a mistake doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t finish out the school year. Maybe you can talk to your parents some more and even write down what you want to say to them if you are having trouble getting it out, or feel like they aren’t listening. While you might not have been for real when you made the comment about abuse, it sounds like there is some trouble with communication between you and your family, and your parents might not be dealing with that in a healthy way. Our ability to respond over the forums is limited, so if you would like to contact us further, please call us at 1-800-RUNAWAY or live chat with us at our website, 1800runaway.org. We are available 24/7 if you want to talk and figure out what to do.

We hope you stay safe and that we hear from you soon,
