I dont know why im putting this here but i just needed to tell somebody if anybody at all and the anonymity is great. I dont feel like im the person that my parents want me to be (specifically my mom) Everytime i mess up whether its in school or at home she just calls me stuff like stupid or an idiot and retard gets thrown around sometimes. She doesn't even try to listen to me when i try to settle things or help fix our already broken relationship. she just resorts to threats like beating and the like. I dunno if this is related or not but she always likes to feel superior by "flexing" that she has gone through all of college just to i guess make me feel dumb.(it works) Running away seems like my best option right now but then i also want to continue school but i know better than to go to the one im currently enrolled in because she wont let me get away that easy even though she constantly says she wants to get rid of me so im doing her a favor here *merry Christmas mom* I don't need people telling me not to do it because im going to (im stubborn like that) i just need advice on how to do this right. Whilst also maintaining an education. Im now questioning if this even belongs here but whatever.

Hi there, thank you for reaching out. It sounds like you are having some issues with mom and the way she has been treating you. It can be really hard when it feels like a parent doesn’t want you or that you’re not the way they want you to be. You are your own person and that’s all you should have to be. It is also not okay for your mom to threaten to beat you up or call you names. It sounds like you are planning on running away and don’t want anyone telling you not to. While we are non-directive so would never tell you what to do or not do, it is important to think it through and plan it out before doing so. Most importantly would be making sure you have a safe place you can stay, but recognizing that your mom could file a runaway report with police and if you are found, you would likely be brought back home. Also anyone you stay with could get charged for what’s called harboring a runaway. It also sounds like school is important to you and that can be tricky when running away because your mom is the one who would have to enroll you in a school. We are here to help and support as best as we can, so if you would like to talk about this further or possible options, please call our hotline 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) or chat us online at 1800runaway.org. We hope to hear from you soon.
Be safe,
NRS
