I don't know what to do. Ever since I was a baby my moms abused me. She hits and beats me everday and calls me practically every bad name that exists. I don't have the nerve to contact CPS. I barely have the nerve to type this. My head even hurts write now.I want to runaway soo badly. But i'm not sure how. My mom is very strict and its just me and her. My mom also has mental problems that she wont admit about. Last night , my 25 yr old sister tried to reason with her with my mom latest dilemma. The neighbors. Everwhere we've lived she's always pissed with the neigbors. My mom barely let my sister talk. Finally after a great deal of yelling my sister was like "This is the last time we are ever going to talk" and then she yelled my name and said "I'll see you when your 18" She ran away to her boyfriends house when she was 18. I dont have a boyfriend and I'm only 12. I feel like I'm going to go insane. Literally. The computer is my only access to freedom these days. I'm not allowed to play outside and rarely am allowed to go somewhere with a friend or go to a sleepover. I feel like my life ended. Especially since now I wont c my sister until I'm 18. My sister was my only souce of outdoor freedom. Now I wont c her until 7 years later. A lot can change and happen in that time. MY mom at night pounds on the walls with a baseball bat. She thinks the neighbors are being noisy on purpose to piss her off. I dont hear anything except her. And then she screams at the wall and says things like "Dont with me! u! Go ahead call the police! I'll meet u in court! I'll sue u! Be prepared to pay for an attorney! u!" It's rly hard 2 sleep at night. I dont even have my own room but our place is a 2 bedroom. I dont have a phone either. A bedroom and a phone is what i want most. She also hasnt bought me any new clothes in a year. My new clothes are my sister old clothes and my moms. She also forces me to eat large amounts of food. Like a gallon of milk 4 breakfast. Right now shes cooking a pot of weird stuff 4 me 2 eat. This all causes me to force myself to throw up. So my life is over. I need help. Period.

    Re: help

Thanks for contacting us at the National Runaway Switchboard. We want you to know that you are very brave for writing to us. It sounds like a lot is going on right now that is causing you so much stress at home. We want you to know that you are not alone. We are here for you to call if you ever find time. We can be reached at 1800RUNAWAY for support and resources. We are here 24 hours a day. We are confidential and anonymous.

Although we are confidential we are also mandated reporters. This means we are able to report wrongdoing on the part of your mother if you chose to report it. We are not in the position to tell what you to do but we wish to guide you on whatever you decide later. It sounds like you do not feel comfortable calling CPS. They are the agency that is able to define abuse because that is something that we are not able to do. We can be the middle person to CPS for you. We can speak with you about the pros and cons of filing. We can call with you or without you. It often helps to get your voice heard since it might be hard for you to not be heard at home.

You certainly do not deserve to be treated the way you mother is treating you. It is not fair for you to be hit and beaten by her. Do you feel safe at home? It sounds like your sister was your rock. It must be hard for you to be there with your mother alone now and to have 7 years more to be an adult. What are other ways you are able to cope with what is happening at home?

We are here for you if you need a listening ear for you if you need to vent or take things off your chest. We are concerned for your safety. We wish for you to call us if you are not feeling safe at home. Have you thought of calling the police? They are there for you too. We wish you call the best and hope to hear from you soon. Good luck.

Please remember you can reach us directly by calling our 24 hour hotline, 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) or through our Live Chat.
