Okay. i’m 12 my birthday was on the 22 . anyways. I HATE living with my dad, for starters it’s disgusting over here we have MOLD EVERYWHERE, RATS, ROACHES. It’s so nasty here our cups are gross and crusty we have dirt everywhere the rats are eating some of our food.. i hate it here and we live with my grandparents and i CANT STAND THEM ALL THEY DO IS SIT AROUND THEY DONT CLEAN AT ALL AND ITS THEIR HOUSE!!! And they treat me and my other grandma like absolute crap ,The only reason i want to stay is because of my other grandma and because of all my friends and school and my pets. (Also my parents are divorced just adding this cus it makes sense in this context ig) I would also HATE LIVING WITH MY MOM. Honestly living with my dad is better for my mental health that my physical . Before my parents divorced, my mom lived with us and it was HELL FOR ME. It was one of the lowest points of my life i was so depressed, suicidal, and tired of everything she was physically and verbally abusive and i hated it. When my parents divorced my mom moved like 25 minutes away from us. She cut contact with me for 2 years for some person who didn’t even love her. When she started talking to me again, it was hell all over again i was so fed up with her. I feel like living with her is like walking on glass, and my mental health is already crap with school and stuff but i hate being in this NASTY HOUSE BUT I DONT WANNA BE WITH MY ABUSIVE MOM.

It sounds like you are going through an extremely difficult time at home and with your mom and dad. No one deserves to be treated that way; especially by those that should be your loving family. You deserve to live in a home that is clean, loving, and respectful.


It also seems like you have tried very hard to make the relationship with you mother work. We are sorry to hear that she has not been able to be the supportive, loving parent that you deserve. You mentioned that your parents divorced, and that dad’s house is disgusting but then it sounds like being with mom is bad for your mental and physical health. That is an extremely difficult situation to be in.


If you feel like you need to stay at dad’s for your mental health, perhaps there are ways that you can spend less time at home? Perhaps join an afterschool program or club that would lessen the time at dad’s in the evening? Or, if you have any good friends that you trust, maybe dad would be open to the idea of you hanging out with that friend afterschool to finish homework in a healthier environment?


You mentioned you are 12 years old, so perhaps you can find a part-time job that would hire you over the weekends where you could also lessen how many hours your spend at home. Maybe if you have any friends whose parents would hire you to mow their lawn, walk their dog or something of the sorts. We realize this is not an ideal fix, but often, teens under the age of 13 would not be able to stay at a youth shelter without parental permission, which may be a challenge for you if mom or dad disagreed with that living arrangement. We acknowledge that neither mom or dad’s is a good place to live and for that, our heart goes out to you.
