Hi I'm 19 and I'm scared to trust the process because I'm not suicidal or with to harm myself but I've been in a toxic relationship with my family and I really need a break. I'm bipolar and clinically depressed with anxiety and being here just makes me feel no one understands me. I do take therapy and have my own meds I just need a place to brake off the toxic nature I live in because it's becoming too much to handle and I don't have enough money to afford a place. My main question is if I can still see friends and other family when I want or am I just confined in the walls.

Thank you for contacting National Runaway Safeline. It was brave of you to share what is going on at home. It must be very uncomfortable to live in a place where you do not get along with your family. It seems like you are dealing with a lot and are looking for alternative housing options. We have many resources that may help you find transitional living programs, youth shelters, legal information, and much more. Please know that if you are feeling unsafe, we can help you find the resources you need. It might be a good idea to see if you are able to call in or chat online (1-800-786-2929 or www.1800runaway.org) to gather further information.
You also mentioned that you were wondering whether you would be able to see friends and family if you decide to live elsewhere. Visitation rules would depend on the place that you are staying at, but typically, you would be allowed to see people or leave during the day.
You are going through a lot, and we appreciate you reaching out to us. Please feel free to contact us whenever is suitable for you as we are open 24/7. If you feel that you are in immediate danger, please do not hesitate to contact the police (911) to get immediate assistance.
We hope to hear from you soon,
NRSPlease remember you can reach us directly by calling our 24 hour hotline, 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) or through our Live Chat.
