I’m 13, queer, and I am currently in the closet. Only because my family is strict, homophobic, and christian. I’m tired of them and want to run away.

Hi there,
Thank you for reaching out to NRS. It sounds like you've been going through a tough time as you've been learning about yourself. It can be really difficult to grow up in a home where you feel as though you will not be accepted for being who you are, and you deserve to be recognized and accepted for your true self.
Running away can be a challenge for a youth of any age, especially someone as young as 13. When thinking about running away it's important to consider things like where you would live, how you would keep yourself safe, and how you would support yourself.
If you have more questions about resources in your area for LGBTQ individuals, shelters, or just want to talk about what you've been going through, you can live chat with us at https://www.1800runaway.org/ (click the chat button); or call at 1-800-786-2929 and we'd be happy to talk with you. Another resource you can try is the Trevor Project, which is a resource for LGBTQ individuals, they can be reached online or you can call at 1 (866) 488-7386.
Be safe,
NRSPlease remember you can reach us directly by calling our 24 hour hotline, 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) or through our Live Chat.
