Hello! I’m 19 and my mother wants me gone and she said that “I wish that you are not my son” the worst part is she slapped me, punched me, and scratched my face. I realized that some people are lucky to have such caring and loving moms. I know that life has never been easy but If Life wants me to choose between living again or not, I would now gladly choose to not live again because since I’m a child I don’t feel being love and special. What will I do if I will run away and chase my dreams on my own?

    Hello there,

Thank you for reaching out to NRS. It takes a lot of courage to ask for help and we commend your bravery.

First off, we want to say that no one deserves to be physically and emotionally hurt like you described. You deserve to feel safe at home. If you ever feel unsafe at home, we encourage you to call emergency services. In most states the legal age of majority is 18 years old, which means that as you are 19 you are free to leave home. This may allow you to find a living arrangement in which you feel safe. We can work with you to help you plan how you could live independently, such as where you would live and how to support yourself. We could also help to connect you with local resources that may be able to support you with this transition. If you are concerned about your safety while leaving home, you could also consider contacting the police who can escort you safely when you leave.

It sounds like you are experiencing a really difficult time and this is affecting your mental health. You deserve to feel loved and special. Is there anyone you are able to turn to for support, like friends or other family members? You mentioned that you would “choose not to live again,” if you ever have thoughts of suicide, you can contact National Suicide Prevention Line at 1800-273-8255. It can be so difficult to discuss everything that you are going through, but having someone to talk to and express your feelings may help.

Thank you for reaching out to NRS. We are here 24/7 to listen and help. We want to talk more with you about your possible next steps. We can best help by phone at 1800-RUNAWAY (1800-786-2929) or you can chat with us online at 1800runaway.org.

We wish you all the best,

    NRS
Please remember you can reach us directly by calling our 24 hour hotline, 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) or through our Live Chat.
