  • I hate living with my mom and wanna see my boyfriend

Hi so im 14 and i live with my mom, dad, and 2 little sisters and i absolutely hate living here. My mom is very controlling and she had been lying to my face for the longest time. A few weeks ago she had found out about my bf and i dating and shes not letting me see him anymore which sucks a lot. I just wish she'd let me see him.

Ive been thinking about running away for awhile now because my mom hasnt been very stable at all and my dad is not emotionally involved in my life at all. Ive planned out all of ny stuff to pack but im having second thoughts. I wanna finish school but if i run away then i wont be able to for awhile. Any advice?

    Hi there,
Thank you for writing to us here at National Runaway Safeline (NRS). We understand it takes great courage to reach out, and we appreciate you sharing a little bit about what’s going on. It seems like not being able to see your boyfriend is frustrating and you are considering leaving home.
To be frank, if you are under 18 leaving home without parental permission can be tricky. While running away is not illegal, your parent/guardian may file you as a runaway which means that if you are caught you will have to return home. Also, those you stay with may run the risk of being charged with harboring a runaway. A guidance counselor, close friend, or trusted adult can be a good resource for coping with difficult living situations or unstable parental figures.
We are here as support through this challenging time and we can best help by having a conversation with you either by phone on our hotline or chatting us through our website. We truly hope to hear from you soon so that we can listen and help.
Our contact information is 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929); www.1800runaway.org (click on the chat button).
If you are at risk of any danger or feeling unsafe, we encourage you to reach out to 911 or seek emergency assistance immediately.
    Be safe,
    NRS
