Re: How to get Birth Certificate

Thank you very much for writing us at the National Runaway Safeline! We appreciate your reaching out. It’s very resourceful of you to try to get your birth certificate despite not having your photo id so that you can go to tech school. It appears that you can request a birth certificate online for a fee. You have to pay for it. Additionally, it appears that you may need to have a photo id. This also costs money to get a new state id or license. In the links below, you can access information about requesting a new id and applying for your birth certificate either digitally or by mail.

RE: No id no birth certificate in know my ssc number

        Hello there –

Thank you for getting into touch with us here at the National Runaway Safeline. We are always here to listen and here to help in any way that we can. From your message, it sounds like you’re trying to get a birth certificate but you don’t have all the information that you need. Now this is not something that we normally deal with, so our knowledge on the subject is very limited. Each state has its own set of rules and fees for ordering certified birth certificates and other records. Rules, ordering instructions and fees for all 50 states, the District of Columbia and all other U.S states can be found here (http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/w2w.htm). Perhaps you can get in touch with your local county clerk’s office and they might be able to tell you a more solid answer on what is acceptable to obtain your birth certificate. You might be able to follow the link provided and order a replacement online (https://www.vitalchek.com/birth-certificates).

        Good luck!
Please remember you can reach us directly by calling our 24 hour hotline, 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) or through our Live Chat.

Re: how to get birth certificate without id

            Hi,

Thank you for reaching out to the National Runaway Safeline. Sounds like you all are trying but have little information. We going to try and help as best as we can.

You said that you all are trying to get your boyfriends birth certificate, we are not legal experts or experts on this topic but we can give you some general information. It looks like in California, the Department of Public Health for the whole state or county is where you can go to get a birth certificate. Generally, in order to get a birth certificate he would need some form of identification, usually a State issued ID or passport, but if you don’t have your birth certificate then you might not have either of those. Some places that you can refer to for more information and better specific answers is California Department of Public Health, their phone number is 714-567-2906 if you can, you could look on their website for more information regarding this, their website is https://www.cdph.ca.gov/certlic/birt...s/default.aspx. The birth certificate issue is more a matter of calling the local state departments. Going online to http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/w2w/california.htm if you have internet access, to use this valuable tool, will mean first determining the state or area where you were born, then click on that state or area. The Center for Disease Control can be reached at 1-800-CDC-INFO (800-232-4636) 24 Hours/Every Day. This agency is specific to figuring where you were born and how you can access your vital records. Another place that also may be able to help you is the Social Security Administration, their phone number is 1-800-772-1213 you can use their automated telephone services to get recorded information and conduct some business 24 hours a day. If you are trying to sort out the your social security card info, this is one way of doing it or you can go online at http://www.ssa.gov to look into the matter. You can access online forms and get directions to solving some of these life questions you are asking.

We wish you the best of luck, feel free to reach out to us if you ever need us again. You can reach us directly by calling our 24 hour hotline, 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) or through our Live Chat which is open every day from 4:30p to 11:30p CST.

                RE: My mom

                Hello there,

Thank you for reaching out to the National Runaway Safeline. It sounds like you are planning to move out of your mother’s house on your 18th birthday and need some of your legal documents but mentioned that your mother will not take you to obtain them. That sounds like it may be frustrating for you. You also seem to have some questions about what the police will do if they are called. We are not legal experts but we can provide general information. If you were to leave home before your 18th birthday, your mom has the right as your legal guardian to file a runaway report in which the police are notified of your status and may return you home if you are found- depending on the situation. Sometimes police will take a report for a youth close to turning 18, however, they may not pursue looking for them. It may be best to contact local authorities to inquire about how they handle runaway cases, and that can be done by calling your local non-emergency police department (not 911). Once you turn 18, the police cannot force you to go back home because you would already be your own legal guardian and have the right to choose where you want to live.

Regarding your birth certificate it may help to contact your local county clerk’s office, the Social Security Administration, or your state department of public health facility for access to your vital records. The Social Security Administration number is 1-800-772-1213.

If you would like to talk more about your situation or receive any other community referrals that may help out, please reach out to 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) or chat online via www.1800runaway.org.

We wish you well and look forward to your call or chat.

                Be safe and take care,

                NRS

Re: No I'd birth certificate or ssc

Hello and thanks for reaching out on our bulletin boards. It sounds like you’re having a hard time getting a copy of your birth certificate. We aren’t sure what state you were born in; however, our general understanding is many states allow either a parent, grandparent, sibling, or spouse to apply for a birth certificate with a valid state ID or driver’s license. If we know your state, we can help you find the department of health/vital records to get that information. Hopefully this helps give you a start. Good luck!

Hi there, thank you reaching out to us at the National Runaway Safeline. From what you’ve shared with us, it seems that you are in need of requesting a duplicate birth certificate. We are including the link to the Louisiana Department of Public Health, which includes more information on how to request such legal documents and their contact information where you may contact them with questions: http://dhh.louisiana.gov/index.cfm/page/635.

                          birth certificate

im 18 I don't have an id and I need my birth certificate. My mom lost it years ago then passed away. So I have no clue what to do. No parents to ask any information, where do I go and what do I do. I have my social security number and a high-school school id, will that ID work? It will have my name date grade and school on it.

To get a copy of your birth certificate you may need to contact the county clerk’s office in the county of which you were born to do so.

                                Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out today and asking your question. It sounds like you’re working on getting your license and your mom doesn’t sound like a very cooperative person. It’s smart of you to reach out for guidance. So let’s see how we can help you out.

Since you are an adult, you have a legal right to those documents. If your mom is refusing to give you those documents, you have the right to contact the police and go to the house with them to get the paperwork. You can call your local police department and ask them for that information.

We hope that this is a helpful start for you. If you’d like to talk more about what’s going on, please call or chat with us. You can call us 24 hours a day at 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) or chat with us through our website (www.1800runaway.org) from 4.30pm-11.30pm central time.

We look forward to your call or chat.

                                Best of luck to you,
