Mom won’t let me leave
I’m 18 years old & my mom verbally abuses me daily & I want to live with my dad but she won’t let me & my dad wants me to come with him to get away from everything. She treats her boyfriend way better than she treat her kids, & i want to leave so bad.. I’ve thought about getting a court order or calling the police.. I just want to leave please help me!

While we are not legal experts, we do have a great deal of experiences working with youths in crisis. It is our understanding that once you are 18, you have the right to move out and live where you choose in most states. If you are in NE (19), AL (19), or MS (21), then you would have to wait until the respective age to be able to move out.
