We are very sorry to hear that you are in such a difficult situation at home. It can be very frustrating and very scary when you can’t sleep. It’s understandable that you would want some reassurances when you are experiencing this. And we’re sorry, too that your parents are not more understanding of your feelings. If you have access to a smart phone or computer, you could look into one of the many relaxation apps that are available. One is called Calm. It has sleep stories and relaxation techniques to help with exactly what you are experiencing. If you and your parents are interested, you could also consider family counseling. A trained professional can help parents and their kids sort through all sorts of communication problems. If you want to give us a call, we can help you find resources in your area. If you have a trusted adult in your church, you may want to talk with them about what you are going through. You talk about running away to work in New York. It’s wonderful that you have plans to act but, agencies would require parental permission in order to hire you as you are a minor. As you my know, the age of majority is generally 18. It is important that you consider how you would keep yourself safe. This includes having reliable transportation, a safe place to sleep and a way to get all the things you need like food, toiletries, etc. We take your safety very seriously her at NRS. I'm not putting were I live on here all I can say is I can take a train to NYC (and I have before I went on vacction there when I was 9). me and my parents have a lot of problems. we are always fighting. they are always mean to me but one iccdent changed it all. ever since I was a baby I have had problems with sleep. my parents would have to run water to get me too fall alsleep and hold me. and I have always been scared of sleep. for as long as I can remeber. my parents would come in the middle of the night and cuddle with me every night. but they stoppted doing that last summer. now I was super scared last night I just asked for a hug but my mom refused too hug me. and my parents were yelling at me. all they cared about was wether or not my dad got enough sleep. they called me a spolied brat, slefish, only cares about my self and swore at me. so I contacted the school consor but I got in trouble for that. my mom asked if I did I was so scared so I lied. she found out I lied got mad and me read my email said I sent her a bunch of lies was scared that cps was gonna be called on her. she said that she used to intern there and she said I'm not sexaully abused so they are nice to me. I got my taken away and If I do anything the slightest bit bad my dad is gonna cancel my line. I also have to go to bed at 9:30 (10 before) and I am 13! I also have privacy (which I never had much of in the first place) taken away from me. my parents say they don't trust me so I have privacy taken away. then something strange just kind of clicked in my mind. ok so detour (I am Christan it ok if your not it's ok) : last summer asked god for advice and one color if this was the answer and another one if a diffrent color. I saw the one color unsure I asked god to give me a sign. he appeared in a drean I had and gave me adivce the same answer. I asked god when I'm gonna get my first acting job. the number 13 appeared on the wall (I have been doing theatre since I was 7). Ok back to present: I had this strange idea running away. I thought I need to make money to survive as a runaway. but how I thought. what jobs can I get at 13. I thought oh my gosh acting. Nyc broadway, movies. it all clicked with the 13 too. so I asked god to see green if I should runaway to NYC and red if I should not. I checked a couple times all of those times I saw green. so now I have the hardest descion to make in my life. what should I do?
