Hi, thank you for posting to the National Runaway Safeline forum. It can be difficult to reach out for help, so you are brave for doing so. Everyone deserves to be treated with respect, and you are strong for continuing to persevere even when you are being treated poorly. You mentioned that living has made you feel suicidal. We want you to know that you matter and that you are not alone. One good resource that can help provide you with support is the National Suicide Prevention Hotline, which you can call at 1-800-273-8255. You can also go to their website to use a live chat room. If you are in an emergency situation, please call 911. You never deserve to be abused by your mother. You mentioned that you want to start to gather a case about the abuse that you have experienced. Childhelp (1-800-422-4453 or is an organization that can provide you with support and guidance in the abuse reporting process if you choose to make one. It can be tough to have a conversation with a parent about how you have been feeling at home and what you think would be best for you. If you feel comfortable speaking with her about your idea, it could be good to inform her of the details of the plan that you have made and how you think that it will be good for you. However, because your mother is your legal guardian, she is still legally responsible for you and could choose to come and remove you from the place you choose to stay at any time. Another option you have through National Runaway Safeline is having a conference call with you and your mother. This would allow you to explain how you are feeling about your home situation with her while someone from NRS is on the line with you to help guide and mediate the conversation. To use this, you would need to call in to 1-800-786-2929. It is difficult to be in a situation where you are not being treated with respect. We want to make sure that you stay safe, so if you need any further assistance, feel free to reach out to us again by phone or through live chat. We are here 24/7 to listen and help. Good luck!

Tips for trying to convince my mom to let me leave?

My mom is making me feel incredibly suicidal and I need to get out of here as fast as possible. I can't stand it for much longer here without trying to kill myself. I need to get to a safe place where I can calm down and start gathering a case about her frequent emotional abuse, the specifics of I'm not comfortable talking about on an anonymous forum. I have a safe place to stay, a plan on how to get there, and school won't be a problem because it's all online. I'm willing to resort to being a runaway if I have to, but I'd much rather do it this way, as running away is considered illegal in my state. I just plan on taking a break for like a week and she often says she wishes she could just leave anyways. Is there anything I can say to try and convince her it might be a good idea?
