First of all, thank you so much for reaching out to NRS today - it is very brave of you. This situation sounds really difficult and scary.
You do not deserve to be treated disrespectfully by a parent and we are so sorry this is happening to you. If you do choose to report this abuse, you can do so through Child Protective Services or contact us to give identifying information because we are mandated reporters here at NRS. Reporting the abusive behavior is entirely up to you and we are here to help with whatever we can.
Another service that we offer here at NRS is something called a conference call. You would reach out on our hotline, give us a little background of what is going on, and then ask to have a conference call allowing you to speak to your parents with the support of one of our liners. They will act as a mediator between you, your parents and your grandma to discuss how you are feeling and how you want to move forward. If you are interested, it could be something constructive - but this option is obviously completely up to you if you choose to do it.
In terms of your mental health, we are sorry to hear that you are struggling. One resource dedicated to this is the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. It is available 24/7 at 800-273-8255.
Lastly, you can always use our chat service to have a more in depth conversation and explore a few more options for the situation. Our number is 1-800-RUNAWAY and our website is https://www.1800runaway.org. This service is available 24/7. It can be difficult to reach out for help, and we are happy to be here for you and listen.

I am almost 16 and want to live with my grandparents.
My dad is emotionally an physically abusive. I didn’t realize that this was abuse until a few months ago but I was hesitant to do anything. In April 2019 I had been given option of living else where but I refused because I didn’t want to leave my siblings and friends. Since lockdown I’ve been at home I’m really sick of it. My grades are low and my mental health is declining. I want to ask both my parents and grandma to move out but I’m not sure how. I want to do so with out making it a big deal, but I have evidence of the abuse if needed. I want to move out by my birthday next Saturday since the semester will have just started.Tags: None
