So I recently had to move to New York with my father because of a legal issue. Ever since the move, everything has gone wrong. I've been in constant arguments with my family and now that I've stopped talking back, they step all over me. I'm not doing too well in school because I'm being bullied and just things with my own mental health. I'm in a depressed state right now but when I try to explain that to my father he basically tells me I'm making up excuses and I'm throwing a pity party. I have cut myself and tried to kill myself in the past and he is aware of this but for some reason, he literally just thinks I'm kidding. I need to get out of here and my best friend's grandparents (we've known each other for 6 years, that's half of our lives) said I can stay with them in GA but my dad doesn't agree with it. I'm also pansexual but currently, I'm living with my grandparents and grandaunt and they are homophobic so it's just toxic and crazy here, I really need to go live with my bestie, I was so happy then, please help.

Hello There,
Thank you so much for reaching out to The National Runaway Safeline, we are here to help and here to listen. It takes great courage to reach out and we are so glad that you have decided to reach out to us.
Wow it sounds like you are in a really tough situation and we want you to know you are not alone. We know you mentioned being bullied in school and you do not deserve to be bullied. Many kids bully other kids because they are insecure themselves and it makes them feel better. One option to consider would be to talk with a teacher or school counselor about this. They should be able to talk with you about ways to stop the bullying and help you.
We know you mentioned trying to commit suicide and cutting yourself, that is a brave thing to admit and we want you to know you are valuable and worth living. We are glad that you survived and are able to share your story today. You do not have to deal with these thoughts alone please reach out for help at The National Suicide Prevention Hotline-1800-273-8255. Another good resource that may help you is called NAMI (national alliance for mental illnesses). They can be reached at 1800-950-NAMI.
We know you mentioned wanting to move to your besties home, we are glad that you have someone in your life that is supportive. We are not legal experts but if you were to leave without permission your legal guardian could file a runaway report. If the police were to find you they could bring you home. We just wanted to make you aware if you do decide to leave. Also when you are feeling down or sad it may be a good idea to talk with your best friend, they can distract you and support you.
We hope that this information may help you in your situation. If you have any other questions or would like to explore more options, please give us a call. We are here 24/7 to listen and to provide support to you. We wish you the best of luck! Please remember you can reach us directly by calling our 24 hour hotline, 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) or through our Live Chat.
