  • Im tired of living with my family

Ok, I am a 10 year old girl with a family who is constantly fighting. My mother is cheating with someone and actually has been for around 6 years and i can't tell anyone, she also tends to let that person pick on me and when i ask her to please stop she tells my dad a whole different story to get me in trouble. (my mom is my main issue) she also tells me to shut up when she knows i bring up something true, and she also calls me names like a**hole or b*tch and a lot more. i feel like i cant say my emotions because EVERYTHING is about her, like i tell her that sometimes she really hurts my feeling but then she says "well do you not think MY feeling arent hurt?". Now, on to my dad. My dad is not too bad its just that he is extremely strict. Like i cant lock my door and if i do one more time my door will get removed. Or i cant talk to anyone unless he knows their parents. i just really wish i could lock my doors because i REALLY want some privacy but i never can which is why i lock myself in the bath room sometimes. my dad also threatens to hit me with a belt just because i forgot to sweep my room.. not to long ago i ACCIDENTALLY (keyword is accidentally!!) kicked my mom in the face and she got so mad she hit my dog, threw her laundry at me, drove away for 2 hours, and didnt talk to me for a day. i know this might sound bad, but sometimes i just want to die, im so over this life because its so hard. sometimes i also wish they would get rid of me too.

    Hey there,
Thanks for reaching out to the National Runaway safeline, it seems like you are in a tough spot right now and not feeling supported or safe at home. You don’t deserve to be treated in this way by your mom. It seems like a lot of the conflict arises from her getting defensive and taking out those feelings of embarrassment on you instead of dealing with them in a healthy way on her own. It might be worth looking into non-confrontational language that you could try to put to use and see if she doesn’t get as defensive so quickly and lash out at you. It seems tough to have your dad causing you other stress by not showing much trust in you to have private time, or choose who to socialize with. Some of those feelings could be coming from genuine concern, but it isn’t OK if it causes you harm instead of good in the long run.
You don't deserve to be hurt in any way. If you are at risk of any danger or feeling unsafe, we encourage you to reach out to 911 or seek emergency assistance immediately. You may also be able to report any mistreatment to CPS. Child Help USA 1-800-422-4453 www.childhelp.org is an organization that helps protect minors from being harmed. They can tell you more about how CPS could respond to your situation. If you ever need assistance calling out to CPS to make an abuse or neglect report please call is at 1-800-RUNAWAY.
It sounds like you’re fearing that the situation may end in suicide if things don’t change. Your safety and well-being is important. Often, having a safe space to share how you’re feeling may bring a variety of solutions previously not thought of. Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. This may be an isolating and lonely time for you, but you are not alone in this. We want you to know that we are here as support to help you through this challenging time.
