Kicked out

I am 17 and 6 months and from Virginia and my parents kicked me out last week with nothing. My dad told me to leave and never speak to him again. I left and I now have a safe place to stay but got word that they are having cops look for me. Things at home were bad and I don't want to go back. What are my options to stay out of legal trouble and stay where I am?

We are sorry to hear that your parent’s kicked you out and are now having the police look for you. Because you are a minor if they kicked you out that is considered neglect which you can report them or that. If the police do find you it is a possibility that they can still return you home, but you can always tell them your situation and what happened. Most likely you would not get into any legal trouble because running away is not illegal.
