  • i left home because i was suicidal and my eating disorder was getting worse

after my 16th birthday i couldn’t take it anymore the constant feeling of i’m wrong and i was a waste. i’ve had an eating disorder for years now, bulimia and suicidal thoughts, my mom only put me on med that made me worse and then when i told her that she ignored me when i said i was getting worse and the thoughts were unbearable. i found one thing that truest made me happy and my parents would take it away and then let me have it and repeat the process and was in control of me and my life. i couldn’t take it anymore and i moved out, along with that i got told i was a coward, a phycho, bi polar, weak, a piece of ******** and more hurtful words. my parents do not support me financially and i’ve been staying with my boyfriend witch they never let me see or have alone time with when i needed it. as soon as i moved my eating disorder went away and so did the thoughts. i used to be 180 pounds and now i am 137 pounds when i was last living with my parents i was 120 pounds with pale skin looked like i was sick but i was not. now that i am trying to be happy my parents won’t support me, won’t help me get a job, won’t help me even get social assistance so i can at least have food to eat. as a kid because i still am, this is traumatizing and to realize the health changes is crazy and it hurts to know that my parents might have cared but just didn’t care enough to see the signs before it was too late. all i ever wanted was my parents to come along side me and love me no matter what but i guess not everyone can try to be happy and have it all.

    Hi there,
Thank you for writing to us here at National Runaway Safeline (NRS). We understand it takes great courage to reach out, and we appreciate you sharing a little bit about what’s going on. We want you to know that we are here as support to help you through this challenging time.
You mentioned experiencing emotional abuse which may be reportable against your parents. Please keep in mind you by no means deserve any type of abuse, emotional or otherwise. Unfortunately, emotional abuse is often harder to provide evidence for compared to physical abuse which is often what CPS relies on when conducting an abuse investigation. That said, we can’t be 100% sure what the outcome will be if your local CPS decides to open a case based on what you share. Sometimes CPS decides to remove minors from the home and other times they offer services such as family counseling or mediation instead. The only way to know the outcome might be to reach out to them directly and if you’re ready to do that we are here to help you through that process. Reaching out to Child Help USA at 1-800-422-4453 or www.childhelp.org may help to get a better understanding of what may happen before and after a report is made.
We are glad you are currently in a safe place, if you need more help we can best help by phone or chat as NRS is unable to respond more than twice by email or bulletin for assistance. If you would like to talk more in detail and share more about how we can help specifically, please call or chat soon.
Our contact information is 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929); www.1800runaway.org (click on the chat button).
If you are at risk of any danger or feeling unsafe, we encourage you to reach out to 911 or seek emergency assistance immediately.
We hope to hear from you soon.
    Be safe, NRS
Please remember you can reach us directly by calling our 24 hour hotline, 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) or through our Live Chat.
