  • Academic Issues

Normally I'm a straight A student who goes above and beyond, however recently I have had a megaton amount of slippage. I was enrolled in a program that allowed me to take college classes while in high school, but this semester I flunked out. I'm no longer allowed to participate in the program, and my parents gave me the option of either staying and being "physically disciplined" everyday or to leave their house. Obviously I don't want to be hit everyday, so I decided to leave. I have until this weekend to move out, however I have no where to go, I'm afraid of what my life has become, and I need help. Anyone been in this predicament?

    Re: Academic Issues

Thank you for contacting National Runaway Safeline (NRS). It was so brave for you to reach out to us for help, and we are here to help. Your safety is our top priority. We are a confidential agency and mandated reporters, so discussing any unwanted “physical discipline” can be reported as abuse. It sounds like you have been through so much, and we are sorry to hear that you have to experience this, but you don’t deserve to be treated this way. If you would like to report the daily physical discipline yourself, we could assist you with the process. We can also assist you in finding a safe place to stay and any other resources you may need in your area. At this time, perhaps you could reach out to other family members and friends for support and assistance.
It sounds like you are also having a difficult time with school and possibly could use some support. Maybe you could reach out to a teacher or school counselor to discuss how the slippage occurred and how you could do better.
Thank you again for being brave and contacting us. If you would like to talk more about this situation or would like resources that can assist you in your situation, please feel free to reach us directly by calling our confidential 24 hour hotline, 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) or through our Live Chat (if services appear available to use).
