Hi there,
Thank you for sharing a bit about your situation with us here at the National Runaway Safeline. We appreciate you taking the time to reach out.
We want you to know that we are here as support to help you with figuring out your next steps in this difficult situation. Asking for help was really responsible and smart of you. It sounds like your parents put a lot of pressure and stress on your shoulders and it has become overwhelming. You deserve to live somewhere that makes you feel safe and supported.
The easiest way to leave home as a minor is with your parents' permission. Now, we understand that might be challenging. Sometimes having an adult on your side to advocate for you can make communicating your needs more effective to your parents. Perhaps your grandmother or another adult your trust like a counselor can help you bring this up with your parents and convince them to let you live somewhere else.
If your safety is a concern or you feel as though your parents are neglectful at home, you do have the options to make a report to CPS. If you would like to know more about this option and if its something that you would like to pursue, you can speak with an advocate at Child Help, childhelp.org.
We want to talk more with you about your situation, so that we can better explore your options with you. We are available 24/7 by phone at 1-800-786-2929 or through live chat at 1800runaway.org for immediate support. We are here to listen and help as much as possible.
Stay safe,
NRS
Please remember you can reach us directly by calling our 24 hour hotline, 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) or through our Live Chat.
