Hey there,
Thanks for reaching out to NRS, it seems like you are going through a transition period and want to make sure you can get through it safely and with little conflict. It does seem like a complicated situation with your things being half at one place and half at the other. But you do have options.
If you don’t have a place to stay in mind you could consider a TLP, or Temporary Living Place, as an option. They are usually single rooms, and have a case manager to help you get onto your feet and into a place of your own. Another option could be HUD.gov for help finding more permanent housing.
As for getting your things out without tipping off your parents you may need to get creative. It may be that by gathering most of your stuff at one home slowly as you go back and forth so it’s all in one spot. Another thing to think of in this process might be what you need to be able to bring along, and what you can make do without. You may not need your video game console if you don’t have a stable place to keep it or use it.
Hopefully these options give you a good starting point. If you have more questions or just need to talk with someone more about a possible plan you can always reach out to our online chat, or call our hotline at 1-800-786-2929.

I need help
I'm turning 18 soon and I plan on running away as soon as possible after I get my high school diploma and secure a good paying job, but I have a major problem with that plan. My parents got divorced when I was in second grade (I was 7 years old) and all my stuff is split between these two houses. I really don't want my parents to know that I plan on running away and I think it would be super suspicious to try and take things like an entire video game console from one house to another. My parents aren't exactly "bad" but they're not very good either, as they seem to really only care about me having really good grades and getting into a big college (which I don't plan on going to one and I haven't told them about that). One final problem is that if I really do plan on going through with this is I have no idea where I'm going to go. I have no friends in school and I hate all my teachers (expect for my astronomy teacher) and I don't think I'll be able to rent out an apartment all on my own. What should I do?Tags: None
