Hi there,
Thank you for reaching out to NRS and wee appreciate you sharing a bit about your situation. You deserve to be treated with respect and to feel supported. It sounds like things at home have been getting overwhelming because of the way your parents treat you and you are trying to find a way to leave. Your safety is really important and we encourage you to take whatever steps you feel are necessary to regain your safety.
The good news is that since you are 18 you are most likely considered a legal adult (unless you live in Alabama, Nebraska, or Mississippi) This means you have the legal freedom to choose where you live. If you feel like you need to leave ASAP we can look to see if there are any shelters in your area. This way you have another place to stay while you work toward being independent. We want to talk more in-depth with you about your situation so that we are able to better explore your options. We can better help by phone at 1-800-786-2929 or through our live chat services at 1800runaway.org. We are here 24/7 to listen and help as much as possible.
We look forward to hearing from you soon,
NRS

Dunno what to do
So I recently turned 18 and am supposed to graduate high school later this month. I'm the oldest of 4 kids and the only girl.
My parents are considered the "controlling" or "authoritative" type. They can be verbally abusive. But only to me, not the other kids.
I want to move out but I'm worried about what they'll do. Also moving out would be tough as I have no job (i'm not allowed to get one.) And I'd have no place to stay (my friends and other family are too far away/don't have space).
I really feel unsafe and feel like I need to leave living under their house. My boyfriend wants to help but we don't know how he could.
I just really don't know what to do anymore.
I'm in Texas if that helps.
Please just help.Tags: None
