Re: Help Me!
Hello,
We appreciate you taking the time to contact us here at the National Runaway Switchboard. It sounds like you are having a really difficult time at home right now. We empathize with mom being mad at you. How have you been dealing with this issue on your own? We truly want to help you figure this issue out.
What sort of work is your mother expecting you to get? Do you know what sort of things you are good at? Are you in school? How mad is mom at you? Is she giving you an ultimatum? Is there a way in which you can sit and speak with her about options? Have you gone out job hunting? When mom says that you are wasting energy, we imagine she is probably asking you to get out more, find work or maybe go to school. By you saying you do not have a job, and trying to take the initiative to reach us for suggestions, it sounds like that is your way of not wasting energy too. You did not waste time writing to us and that is a good sign.
If you did run away, where are you going to run away to? Do you have a plan? What is your expectation of running away? What is your feeling about coming back home? Are you going to talk to your mother about how you feel? We feel for you and wish for you to call us at our hotline number for support. We are here for you and can be reached at 1800RUNAWAY.
The purpose of the email is to get to know your issues but we feel you can benefit from calling us to speak to one of our liners. We are all trained the same way and can provide you with support and referrals. Have you ever considered joining Job Corps? You can reach Job Corps at the number and hotline 1-800-733-5627 http://www.jobcorps.org. They are available 24 hours and provide residential G.E.D. and job skills training in 100 trades for ages 16-24. You can enjoy housing, meals and training free of charge but need parental consent for youth age 16-17. We hope we provided you with good insights at this time and wish the best for you. Good luck and we look forward to hearing from you soon.
-NRSPlease remember you can reach us directly by calling our 24 hour hotline, 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) or through our Live Chat.
