Long story short, after running away my father got custody. Father is emotionally/mentally abusive any time anywhere. I'm 17, 18 in August and unfortunately I do not feel like I am going to stay with him any longer. Either I am getting some type of emancipation or help to move out, or I am running away and killing myself.

Hello There,
Thank you so much for reaching out to The National Runaway Safeline, and sharing your story with us. It takes a lot of courage to reach out for help and we are so glad that you did. You do not deserve to be abused in any type of way. One option to consider is to make an abuse report and there are a few ways you can go about doing this. One option is you can talk with a school counselor and they would be able to help in making a report. Another option would be to call Child Help at 1800-422-4453 and they can help you in making an abuse report. Lastly, you can always call us and we would be more than happy help in making a report on your behalf.
We know you mentioned getting emancipated. We are not legal experts but sometimes the process can take a few months. To find out more about the emancipation process you can call your local court house to get more information on the process. You can also give us a call or chat with us and we can provide you with legal aid phone numbers. Also you mentioned you turn 18 in August, we know it may seem like a super long time away but it really is not that long.
We also see that you have mentioned suicide, and we want you to know you are never alone. Your life is important and you are valuable. Suicide is a permeant decision to a temporary situation, and there is help out there. You can always call The National Suicide Prevention Hotline at: 1800-273-8255. There is always someone to listen and always someone to provide support.
We hope that this information is helpful to you in your situation. If you have any other questions or would like to explore more please give us a call. We are here 24/7 to listen and to provide support to you. We wish you the best of luck!
