  • Help :[

So i am a 17 year old girl living at home with my mother in...Colorado. I used to live with my dad in...California till he kicked me out.

I am and have been for awhile now seriously running away. I feel like my dad didn't want me and neither does my mom. My dad made me move in with my mom after not knowing her for 7 years, at times i feel like i live with a complete stranger.

My step dad has inappropriately touched me in my sleep numerous times. and i just need to get out. i will be 18 in 4 months but i cant take it anymore. I need somewhere to go. can you help me find a shelter????

    Re: Help :[

    Hello,

It is very brave of you that you have decided to contact us at the National Runaway Switchboard for resources at this time. It is not fair to you that you have lived a life of constantly shifting from place to place. We imagine that you crave some stability in your life and that you are now poised to get your life going. We do not wish to give away much about your location but we want to make sure that you are safe. Are you in a safe place with people you can trust? What your stepfather has done to you is totally not your fault. You do not deserve that sort of treatment from people you thought you could trust.

Do you feel you have been running ever since and it is due to your father turning his back on you? Do you feel he gave up on your because you were made to live with your mother? What was life like with your father? What was the experience like interacting with mom? Do you trust her still to seek advice for your life now? You are not alone. We are here for you. Please let us know how we can help in other ways as we offer you resources for shelters. If you need someone to speak to live and a person to vent, we are here 24 hours a day at 1800RUNAWAY. We want to support you emotionally. We hope you can call us to give shelter information to you directly over the phone. However, here are a few to start with for your area.

There is Urban Peak at 303-777-9198, Treasure House at 303-863-9397, Human Services, Inc-Spirit at 303-561-1246, Mile High United Way 211 at 303-561-2111, and Volunteers of America at 303-297-0408. It helps to know that the last resource is good for when you turn 18. It helps women over the age of 18. We wish you well and hope some of these numbers can get you started on a place to remain safe. Good luck.

    -NRS
Please remember you can reach us directly by calling our 24 hour hotline, 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) or through our Live Chat.
