Hi,
Thank you for reaching out to us; we are glad that you did.
It sounds like you are going through a really hard time, having such an early curfew sounds unreasonable. We are not legal experts, and some of the things to consider as far as legal actions would be whether you can google your city or county. You can use, Youth curfew your town South Carolina, as the search term. Then you will know your rights to be out.
Also, if there a reason for such an early curfew, like having a court ordered curfew or program that you have to follow, then yes, they can get the police involved. If it is simply their rule, and you haven’t run away, the consequences are only known to you. Would they take away your tech, or confiscate money, deny you use of a car, and so on. Your parents probably have the right to do those things.
Sometimes having an ally to help negotiate on your behalf can work. Finding a family member or another adult that you trust to help you talk with them might help.
We would be happy to help you think this through and talk things over. We are here 24/7 either by phone at 1-800-786-2929 (1-800-runaway) or via live chat at www.1800runaway.org
We look forward to hearing from you soon.
Sincerely,
NRS
