  • Moving from my mums house to my dads

I'm 15 years old and met my dad for the first time in my life about a year ago and already feel that my relationship and similarities are much greater than with my mum and step-dad. Ive never felt wanted at home before i met my father i had been so unhappy and confused as to why my mum or dad didnt want me however now that ive grown older i have realized that my step dad has controlled my mother in such a way that she doesn't focus on me anymore. When i was younger i ran away from home 3 times (one time i tried running away from school so i didn't have to go back). But if i leave home now i feel bad leaving my 3 year old brother with them when i do as much parenting for him as they do, because they like to go out to get drunk often!!! I also more or less adopted the family dog as my own because the same as everything around the house i do everything for him. I really dont know what to do

RE: Moving from my mums house to my dads

Thank you for reaching out to us at the National Runaway Safeline. It sounds like you are in a difficult situation, and we understand it takes courage to reach out for help. The National Runaway Safeline is located in the United States of America (USA). Our knowledge of helpful community based resources and our understanding of youth in crisis related laws is limited to the USA. If you are located in a country outside of the USA, you can use this link to find a youth helpline in or around your country: http://www.childhelplineinternationa...where-we-work/
We hope that by reaching out to a local resource, you are able to get the support you need from an organization that understands the laws and circumstances that affect youth in your country.
Please remember you can reach us directly by calling our 24 hour hotline, 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) or through our Live Chat.
