Re: I really need to know something
Hi there,
Thanks for reaching out to us at the National Runaway Safeline (NRS). It sounds like you are really thinking through your options and have already done a lot of groundwork on learning about running away. It is brave to reach out for extra support.
In terms of other places online to research, it might depend a bit on what you are looking for. If you are feeling unsafe at home or somewhere else you are staying, one thing you could research would be homeless shelters in your area. We have a great deal of resources in our database that are specific to youth, but you can also look more generally on http://www.homelessshelterdirectory.org/. You can also look up safe places to stay at this site: http://nationalsafeplace.org/.
If you are interested in learning about the runaway laws and practices in your city/state, you could also try reaching out to your local police station to learn more. You’d want to call their non-emergency line, which you can look-up here: http://www.usacops.com/.
For other resources, or to talk more about what’s going on, feel free to reach out to us via our free, confidential hotline at 1-800-RUNAWAY or via chat at www.1800runaway.org. We’d also be happy to call shelters or the police with you if you feel uncomfortable doing it on your own.
Best of luck to you,
NRS
