  • i need help

I'm 14 and I live with my aunt since my mother died. My aunt and I has lived in my mother's house for a year and my time there was okay at first but then it slowly started getting worse. When my family first found out that I was living with my aunt their was plenty of CPS cases (since my aunt has a bad reputation) I lied about all the accusations because I enjoyed the drinking and partying she did. She lets me drink, smoke weed and cigarettes and her husband gives me pills here and there. But now I've learned my lesson and I'm done with it all. Her husband got out of prison for making meth and was on parole for the whole time he lived in my mom's house. His parole officer never tested him for any drugs so he did everything: meth, heroine, crack, subuxone strips. I've even seen him overdose on heroine in front of me. I've seen him make meth in the garage in front of me and I've seen their dirty crack pipes, their heroin needles and their heroine. I've also seen them eat strips I front of me. Their both alcoholics and they drink almost everyday. Every time they get drunk they argue and scream and get into physical fights, it's really draining. My aunt abuses me physically and verbally. We get into fist fights once in a while and she says I'm a horrible person, and she hates me and how she wishes I was dead. She's hostile all the time. Anyways when we got evicted she sold everything in the house for drugs and alcohol. There's nothing in that trailer we moved in. Just random junk. I don't even have a bed. Theirs no fridge nothing. And nothing in their is turned on. No water, we don't have an A/C and it's summer, no food. Nothing. She won't let me live anywhere else because she gets a 500$ check because she has me. I can't stand to live with her anymore. Its so draining physically and emotionally. I don't know what to do about this.

    Re: i need help

    Hello,
Thank you for taking the time to write to us here at the National Runaway Safeline.
First off we want to say that abuse whether its physical, sexual, emotional or verbal, it is never okay and you do not deserve it and do have the right to report it. We know that you said that CPS was involved at first and you lied about what was going on. We want you to know that that does not discredit what is happening to you now. We want you to know that you do have the right to make a report with Child Protective Services. Child Help USA is an information and referral line that can connect you with your local CPS abuse hotline. That number is 1-800-422-4453. If you ever felt like making a report or needed help, we are here to assist with that. We understand that making an abuse report can be intimidating so if you like we can call together to provide support.
It sounds like when your mother died you started living with your aunt. At first you really enjoyed being able to party and the freedom that she gave you but over time you have grown out of that lifestyle, which is really mature of you to realize. We are sorry for your loss and for the pain that you are enduring from your aunt and uncle. It sounds like their drug use has really put you all in a bad spot. You do not have to stay there if you do not want to. If you would like we can try and find you a safe place to go until you are able to get in contact with someone at CPS. This is a lot for one person to handle who have you been able to talk to about all of this? Is there someone that you trust? It might be a little bit easier to deal with if you let an adult know about the abuse, no food and no water.
Please do not forget that if at any time your safety is threatened you do have the right to call the police.
We do hope that you reach out to us through phone or chat to discuss your situation in more detail. Our goal is to help you find ways to stay safe. We would be happy to look up resources in your area, talk with you about your options, or just listen to what you’re going through.

We do not want to leave you without options because your safety is our number one priority. We hoped this helped and we encourage you to call our 24/7 hotline at 1800.786.2929 or you can chat with us every day from 4:30pm-11:30pm CST. We hoped this helped and we look forward to hearing from you. We wish you the best of luck.
Please remember you can reach us directly by calling our 24 hour hotline, 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) or through our Live Chat.
