My mother has been in a relationship with a man for almost a 2 years now, this man is very dangerous and manipulatave he also has mental problems and drinking issuses and becomes very violent when he is confronted even a little. i have never liked him since he moved in he would always try to put me down and use his position as a parent to try and boss me around. in the last few months he has had his largest outbursts where he smashed our tv and sliced our lounge cushion my mother supposedly broke up with him after a week or two after this he convinced my mum to move away to a new town now i have no friends or family in this new town and he also moved here and a week ago he came around at night he was locked out but he was going off saying he was going to kick the door down and other incoherent things he eventually left but he came back the next day trying to get in again he was even worse then the day before he smashed our cars windscreen a light out the front and a side window on our house i had to call the police and another man came out and he left after the police came they took photos and said they were going to put an avo most likey now we come to today my mum has been sneaking out to his late at night and she left me two days ago and was gone for roughly 26 hours i know she is seeing him and when i confronted her she just says she is a parent and she can do what she wants and says i have no say in the situation, i dont want to live with her if she is going to get back with him i cant i have been dealing with domestic violence my whole life but i dont know what to do im considering leaving but i dont know where to go

    Hey there,

Thanks so much for reaching out and sharing a little bit about what’s been going on, we know that it takes a lot of courage. The man your mom is with sounds really scary to be around and his actions are unacceptable. If you are ever in any kind of harm or immediate danger we encourage you to reach out to emergency services like the police. The National Runaway Safeline is located in the United States of America (USA). Our knowledge of helpful community-based resources and our understanding of youth in crisis-related laws is limited to the USA. You may want to check out Kids Helpline by going to http://www.kidshelp.com.au/ as they are based in Australia and may be better able to assist you.

We hope that by reaching out to a local resource, you are able to get the support you need from an organization that understands the laws and circumstances that affect youth in your country.

    Be safe,
    NRS
Please remember you can reach us directly by calling our 24 hour hotline, 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) or through our Live Chat.
