Re: My dad punched me and a cps investigation going on
Hi there,
Thank you for getting in touch with us. You are very brave for reaching out for help and we hope we can provide you with some information. You definitely do not deserved to be abused or threatened by your father or your sister. Home should be a place that feels safe and comfortable.
In most states you need to be at least 16 to be considered and demonstrate that you can support yourself financially. Emancipation can be a lengthy process and may even cost some money for court fees. We would be happy to look into legal resources if that’s something you are considering.
It sounds like CPS might already be involved. Maybe there’s a case manager who could help you with this process. We know that this can be really intimidating and really difficult for a lot of people. If you feel like you want to know more about abuse reporting, you may find this website helpful: https://www.childhelp.org/hotline/. We can also help you to file a report if that’s the route you are considering.
Please reach out to us by phone to continue discussing or for specific referrals.
Stay strong,
NRS
