    RE: 13: please help

We are so sorry that you’re going through all of this. It sounds very stifling and worrisome. The most important thing to say here is that you deserve to be treated with kindness and respect.

It sounds like you’ve taken a couple of positive steps like reaching out to your mom and others, and it’s really unfortunate that people are not taking it seriously.

Here are a couple of steps to consider exploring. Think if there is anyone else to reach out to, a family member, friend or councilor, who might be able to step in and help you and your mom work things out.

Consider whether getting your mom some help would be a positive. We have a database of free and affordable resources, and we could give you some numbers for councilors to call if you called us directly.

You mentioned your concern for your pets. Think about if there’s someone else they could stay with, for the short or medium term. That way, you wouldn’t have to worry about their safety.

And lastly, because things are escalating, this might be a situation where you turn to Child Protective Services. This program is designed to keep youth safe when they have nowhere else to turn. If you have concerns and questions about taking a step like this, you can call Child Help USA and speak to them anonymously. They are set up as an information line, and their number is 1-800-422-4453.

Also, if you’d like to talk things out, you can always call us directly. We’re available 24/7.

    13: please help

I'm 13 years old and I'll be 14 in October. My mom and I have moved across country and our move didn't go as planned AT ALL. We moved into a studio aprement last minute so we'd have a roof over are heads and she is so un happy here and is taking it out on me. I don't have my own room hence my living situation so I have no place to hide except my bathroom. She screams and swears at me because she blames me for this whole thing. She breaks things and makes remarks like she wants to die and it's all my fault. I have a lot of health issues that cause me to be in the hospital almost 24/7 and I've been very sick lately and she's yelling at me when I have to lay down due to my health. This is not the first time this has happened it's been going on for about 2-3 years now. My other concern is my two chinchillas and headgehog im scared if I leave she will harm them. I've tried reaching out to people and her but everyone thinks it's stupid. I've been diagnosed with severe PTSD and depression and anxity and when she yells at me I have flashbacks of my dad who was emotionally, physically, and sexually abusive to me. I'm starting to think my mom is emotionally abusive and possibly going to start being physically too. Please help me
