  • My parents want me to move.

I'm 15 and my parents want to move states away and want me to leave everything. They want me to leave my family, friends, boyfriend and start over. I try to tell them how I feel but when I do they say I'm being selfish. I want to leave with my grandparents or my boyfriends mom said she would be happy to let me live there. I don't wanna start over and lose everything I have and tired to hard for. They don't get what I want and they don't understand no matter how hard I try to explain to them, but they don't listen. Since they told me they want to move everyday they bring up moving and never ask me how I feel, even when I'm sitting with them at the dinner table crying over it. They bring it up day after day so I cry everyday because it hurts me bad that they just wanna move without considering how I would feel. I just wanna stay where I am with everyone and be happy but my parents want to take me someone new and be miserable. I worked so hard for everything and they just wanna tear it all down.

Thank you for reaching out to us and telling us your story. It sounds like you are going through a very difficult time right now and we hope to be able to help. It can be frustrating not feeling like you are being heard by your parents. One service we can offer is to conference call with your parents. This way you could have a conversation with your parents but you would not be alone. Sometimes those conversations go better in a conference call because we can advocate for you. You could also consider speaking with your grandparents about what you want to do and maybe they can help to talk to your parents as well. We would love to talk more about the details of your situation so that we can work towards a solution you find acceptable. If you would like to share more, please feel free to call our 24 hour hotline at 1-800Runaway (786-2929) or use our live chat. We hope this information was helpful and take care.
Please remember you can reach us directly by calling our 24 hour hotline, 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) or through our Live Chat.
